Meet the team
Tom is an experienced investment professional with a career spanning four decades across stockbroking, investment management, and boutique advisory services. He began his career in 1985 in institutional settlements at Walker Crips Weddle Beck, before moving into leadership roles early on. In 1987, he became a Director at Rotherfield Securities—later renamed Durlacher PLC—and was promoted to Managing Director in 1989. He departed after the board shifted the firm’s strategic focus toward derivatives.
In late 1994, Thomas joined Brown Shipley’s stockbroking division in Oxford, where he rose to head of the office by the late 1990s. During his tenure, the business underwent several ownership transitions following acquisitions by Albert E. Sharp, Old Mutual, and ultimately Barclays, giving Thomas extensive experience navigating evolving corporate environments while maintaining client continuity.
In 2005, Thomas founded Scrase Investment Management, establishing it as a boutique investment firm built on personalised client relationships and disciplined portfolio oversight, as a co-branded branch office of Raymond James Investment Services, enabling Thomas to combine personalised, local service with the operational strength of a global financial services firm.
Thomas continues to be recognised for his steady leadership, deep market knowledge, and longstanding commitment to private clients. His approach blends breadth of economic understanding with a value-oriented discipline and a commitment to long-term relationships. Many clients have stayed with Tom for decades, often initially coming to him through personal referral.
Tom relishes the intellectual breadth the role demands – staying abreast of global economies, innovations and technological change – and the human depth of long-standing client relationships. Seeing thoughtful decisions translate into positive outcomes over a lifetime is, for him, the great privilege of the profession. He is energised by learning from clients’ own expertise and life stories, and by the craft of matching patient capital to evolving goals.
Beyond his role as a wealth manager, Tom is a proud husband to Hanne with whom he founded the branch – and father to three grow-up children. A keen athlete, sportsman and marathon runner, Tom is especially passionate about cricket having devoted more than 20 years to Oxfordshire’s cricket community as a committed player, a children’s coach (ECB Level 2), and as president of South Oxfordshire Amateurs cricket club where he was dedicated to local community outreach.
Hanne has played a fundamental and ongoing role in the launch and running of Scrase Investment Management. Her role spans book-keeping, back-office administration, marketing and business development strategy. This is as well as providing a sounding board and sage counsel particularly during those black swan events such as the pandemic, where extended discussions about all the multiple possible scenarios have proved invaluable in the face of additional global uncertainty.
Hanne is wife to Thomas with whom she shares three adult children (including Julie). She holds a degree in Psychology with statistics from the University of Reading and The Certificate in Introduction to Investments and Securities via the BPP University. Beyond the business Hanne is an accomplished and published poet and translator of poetry.
Julie brings 15 years across financial services research, editorial work and high-growth fintech. She has worked with global banks, investment firms, law practices and consultancies, and most recently spent over five years at a fintech scale-up, developing expertise in digital payments, AI-enabled technologies and the realities of building global platforms. Educated at St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford (BFA) and the University of Essex (MA). Julie holds the CISI Introduction to Securities and Investment qualification and is currently undertaking the CISI wealth management qualifications.
Julie enjoys the blend of rigorous thinking and personal purpose – making sense of an uncertain world and connecting that analysis to the lives, families and aspirations of individual clients. After years researching the financial system from the outside, she chose to join her father to apply that curiosity in practice – bringing particular insight in the tech sector while upholding the trust and integrity Tom has built.
Julie is married to Dimitrios Kolomvas, a lecturer in mathematical finance and econometrics – a steady source of perspective whenever questions turn numerical.

The value of investments, and the income derived from them, can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than invested. Past performance is not a reliable guide to future returns.
